Product Description Jay Austin wants to sell you a used car, but watch out! Many victims have fallen prey to his smiling face and hasty promises. Austin does everything his way until his dishonesty and manipulation are repeatedly exposed. Like many men, he becomes disgusted by the masks he wears and lies he tells. While having a classic convertible repaired, Austin begins a humorous and inspiring journey to win back the hearts of his wife, his son, and his community. In every man's life, there can be a turning point. When Jay Austin makes his turn, he never looks back.
Amazon.com Flywheel is the first film from the creators of Facing the Giants and Fireproof. Used car salesman Jay Austin (writer/director Alex Kendrick) swindles his customers and teaches his assistant salesmen to do the same--but despite the profits, something gnaws at him. When he realizes that his own son doesn't respect him, Austin has a conversion and accepts God into his life. This would be the end of most spiritual stories, but Flywheel finds a warm comedy in the obstacles on the path of righteousness; Austin discovers that being right with God means grappling every day with what it means to be honest. Though the filmmaking is raw (the editing is often clumsy and the cinematography is flat), the story is well-paced, has a gently ironic sense of humor, and Kendrick's central performance is compelling. Kendrick is just as persuasive as a man struggling to emerge from a joyless life as he is when he's rediscovered his faith but finds it constantly tested. Though Flywheel is forthright about its Christian inspiration, the story is about actually living a moral life, not about abstract spiritual truths. The result is a movie that looks towards heaven, but has its feet on the earth. --Bret Fetzer

An amazing movie! January 8, 2009 Flywheel is a must-see movie! Produced by the same church that made "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof", "Flywheel" tells a compelling story of a man who lives for himself and what happens to him when he sees himself as God sees him. It is a fictional story that tells the very real truth about what happens to a person when they meet Jesus Christ personally. The filming of Flywheel is not as advanced as either "Facing the Giants" or "Fireproof", but the viewer gets so involved with the story that suddenly the lesser quality of filming is not an issue, not even noticed. As we watched this film for the first time, we laughed, we cried, we marveled at the power of God to change lives. We highly recommend "Flywheel" as well as "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof".
Great movie to teach integrity January 6, 2009 Alex Kendrick does a wonderful job acting and directing this movie. It teaches a great life lesson about putting your trust in the Lord and letting God work. I loved all the characters in this movie. I think this movie is even better than his later ones.
Excellent movie January 6, 2009 This is a very inspirational movie - the first one that a church put together that also produced "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof". It talks about living for God in everything we do and the consequences of that. The director's cut helped the sound and color so it's easy to watch. I highly recommend it.
The beginning January 5, 2009 This is the first movie done made by the folks at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga. While it doesn't have the glitter and glam of a Hollywood movie it does have something more important, substance. You won't find foul language, nudity or mindless violence here, instead you find what life with and without morals is like. I believe we need more movies like the one put out by the good folks at Sherwood Baptist Church.
Wonderful family film December 29, 2008 Although this was a project completed with a $20,000 budget and lots of volunteers it is an amazing story and film. I have watched it countless times and everytime I enjoy it and learn something from it. It is one of the few movies that I can actually recommend without fear to any family for all ages.
