Product Description
Using pencils, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, watercolours, felt pens and more, Giovanni teaches the importance of observation and sketching, and how to capture life and movement. He shows how to simplify the hands and feet of children and adults, with illustrations and an easy-to-understand section on the importance of anatomy and proportions. Further explanations about light, shade and tone give helpful advice on capturing the essence of the drawing. Many different techniques are included, from the linear method where the contours of the shapes are sketched, to the structural method where the main areas are emphasised. For anyone interested in the figure, this book is invaluable. It is packed with information, quick sketches and more elaborate works.

Must-have Instruction May 23, 2008 This book is a must've have for anyone wishing to get in-depth help for drawing hands and feet. These two areas often have artists a bit stumped, especially in particularly dynamic poses which cause foreshortening. Clear instruction complemented with beautiful drawings should have you drawing better hands and feet after usual practice. 10/10

Really good reference May 16, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is awesome for gathering reference on drawing hands and feet. It doesn't focus much on technique, but it's worth the price.
Only one page of female hands December 30, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was disappointed to find 99% of the book is drawings of male hands and felt misled. Good drawings though...
