5 out of 5 stars Great variety   July 15, 2008
As soon as a checked this book out of the library, I knew I had to buy it myself.

There is a wide variety of different media and styles represented in the book. While it is not an instructional book, I've found the drawings to be very useful as a source of inspiration, and the sketches are helpful in developing different aproaches to tackling problems.

For the non-artist, this book can still be very informative and entertaining due to the wide variety of artists represented here.

The problem with most books on drawing that have an instructional bent to them is that they are dependant on the work of second-rate draftsment and tacky artists to illustrate them. This is obviously counter-productive. Though this is not an instructional book, it is filled with nothing but the best graphic work done in all mediums by a good variety of contemporary artists. Seeing the higher level of what is being produced now is instructional and inspirational in itself.
