Peter Pan has a special place in the realm of classic animated Disney films: it instills an element of childlike wonder. The 1953 version of James M. Barrie's story is colorfully told and keeps on the straight and narrow of the book. Barrie's wondrous focus on child's play is the key to its longevity: kids who don't grow up, shadows that run away from their owners, pirates, a fairy, and the magic ability to fly. In short, you can't help wishing the adventure would happen to you. Fueled by a few memorable songs (the stunner being "You Can Fly") and the strong impression of the pixie fairy Tinkerbell and the goofy Captain Hook, Disney's version of this story neither supplants nor lessens the Broadway version with Mary Martin that was produced for television the same decade. Unlike some classics, Peter Pan never ages along the way. --Doug Thomas

5 out of 5 stars Great viewing. Loved by all.   January 7, 2009
Our grandson loves this DVD and wants more. He said he loves old movies, and this is a really good one.

5 out of 5 stars Peter Pan   December 28, 2008
What can one say about a Disney movie? I have yet to be disappointed. This is a perfect telling of the story about the boy who didn't want to grow up and the adventures he had in Neverland with Wendy, Michael, and John. I would recommend it as great family entertainment.

5 out of 5 stars Great Classic   November 10, 2008
This is one of my favorites and I'm grandma! I have always loved this story. We're taking our two granddaughters to Disney World for Christmas and Peter Pan will be a staple for the DVD player in the car. Delivery was prompt with no complaint.

5 out of 5 stars peter pan disney platignum excellent   October 29, 2008
Excellent. Great idea of special features including a read-along with script below. Wonderful for early readers.Stupendous to be able to obtain for children all one's childhood favorites in the ORIGINAL, not some politically correct version which insults one's intelligence.

5 out of 5 stars RED HAIR FOR ALL ?   September 27, 2008
I love this film, always have, always will. HOWEVER the color restoration turned practically every characters' hair red. Wendy and John certainly never had red hair before. Although the original color is dated, it is much more beautiful.
