Product Description
An Acrylic Journey - From Trash to Treasures A playful approach to everyday items, discusses composition, layering materials, making it personal and keeping it creative! Artist Profile: Mary is an award winning, nationally recognized fine artist. Mary and her husband, Don, call Cambridge, Ohio home during the winter months but migrate to the hills of Tennessee in the summer to hide away in a 150 year old log cabin. She won't be able to hide for long! The recent (September 2001) release of her very popular book, Celebrate Your Creative Self has brought Mary much deserved recognition. Now in it's second printing, the book speaks to the artistic process, the reaching beyond the self and into the unknown to tap into our own personal humanity. Mary encourages play, taking risks and exploration as part of the process. Mary has a background in teaching and nursing, but she loves art. She incorporates personal symbols into her work, and allows the painting to tell her what's next. Her great joy is to be in the creative realm, with all its unknowns. She says, "It's the only place to be!" Mary came to the CCP studio in December of 2001. The interview taped with her at that time is a real insight to her creative process. In Spring of 2002 Mary won she second gold medal at the American Watercolor Society in New York.
