Amazon.com Review Hauntingly romantic, the 28 recently discovered watercolors featured in Intimate Landscapes were created by a twentysomething Georgia O'Keeffe when she first moved to the American Southwest to teach art. This stunning volume, which measures only 7 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches, is essential for any O'Keeffe fan. The beautifully reproduced images convey the glory of the Southwest in vivid reds, purples, and golds, revealing the astonishing potency of the young artist's emerging vision. Not only do these works highlight an important period in O'Keeffe's early career and represent a turning point in her personal style, but they also clearly depict her intense relationship with nature. Accompanying the paintings are excerpts from O'Keeffe's letters and writings, as well as musings by such luminaries as Willa Cather and Wassily Kandinsky. The remarkable paintings work on two levels: they present a stirring vision of the majesty of a vast landscape while simultaneously delving into intimate personal territory. For the first time we see the solitude and meditation that characterize much of O'Keeffe's later work.

Exquisite book - captured my daughter's heart (10 yrs old) when we were waiting for dinner to be served at a B&B in Galisteo N.M. While not O'Keeffe's most famous works, this is an intimate book, with poems. Would love to find one for her.
