Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Frank Frazetta has excelled in a wide variety of artistic formats, from fine art to paperback covers, comic books to record albums. His atmospheric worlds of sinewy superheroes, seductive sirens, and vivid monsters are wonderfully detailed, fully realized, and unmistakably his. This book gives fans an intimate glimpse of Frazetta's creative process by showcasing not only black-and-white and full-color drawings from his sketchbooks, but concept art as well, showing the artist's raw imagination and problem-solving skills. Printed on deluxe art paper and featuring personal and previously unpublished material, these ?rough works? offer a fascinating look at how a modern master creates.

4 out of 5 stars Additional Frank Frazetta Work   July 12, 2008
This sketchbook is an excellent guide into not only the mind of Frank Frazetta as he created his final images, but a good feel in the direction on how to create your own work. This helps me with my renderings on the [...] site where I post my own work. Some of the influence I have is from the classic Frazetta paintings. Great book and guide.BattleCruiser: Blooded Ground

4 out of 5 stars Nice Compilation   June 14, 2008
If you already have Frazzeta Journals this is more of the same, but for a new addition it is a nice compilation

I like this book for a reference but wish there was a little more to it as far as steps and processes.

4 out of 5 stars Value and inspiring   February 25, 2008
This is mostly a book for die-hard fans of the genre and artist, I think. It is small in dimension, but very much something you will study over and over. It makes you understand the genius of Frazetta and his creative process. While intimidating, it feels somehow more approachable to do what you do as an artist. I regret that they canceled publication of the other Frazetta book expected last year.

This is a fantastic value for the price. A great tribute to the process and body of work. There is a sense of "cleaning out the attic" to the recent push of Frazetta, admittedly, as if to continue the legacy after his retirement. This is, however, only what it needs to be, and doesn't seem like the selling of fingernail clippings [snort] that will follow the passing of great influences like him historically in writting, music and art. I at least hope we'll not get a collection of cocktail napkin doodles at some point.

5 out of 5 stars Inspirational Insight for Artists   February 19, 2008
There's not much to add to the positive reviews here. The insights this book offers into the creative process are considerable: glimpsing the underpinnings of some of Frazetta's great works is nothing short of a revelation.
